Our brand story as “The Author’s Midwife” began with our Publishing Director cum Consultant – Lilian Akwunwa, who started out as a passionate and skilfull writer but without experience.
Our Story
As a greenhorn in her late teenage years, her first and second books were published via professional publishers who took particular interest in her beautiful and creative writing. Sadly, she had no say in the publishing process and suffered the consequence of unsatisfactory book publishing and poor publicity. Seeing her intellectual property underutilized and devalued became a pain point. As she continued to develop her writing skills and her career, she earnestly sought viable solutions. She decided to publish her third book by herself in 2019. The book – “Shadow of the Unseen”,
turned out a huge success both in print production, marketing and launch
Not wanting others to relive her past experiences, in 2020, Lilian began her quest to become a midwife to other writers and authors via Malicha – her writing, content development and publishing firm.

Our Believe
At Malicha, we believe that publishing a book is like getting pregnant and giving birth to a baby. You go through the conception period where your book idea is formed, the incubation or gestation period in which the idea is developed into a manuscript (content), and then the labour and birth phase which is when your manuscript is published as an eBook or paperback prints. Hence, every author undergoes these stages. As your midwife, after going through the pregnancy period of developing your manuscript,
we want to help you birth your book, effortlessly.
Interestingly, not only do we have a publishing director with almost ten years of industry experience and cutting-edge expertise,
plus certifications from prestigious institutions such as the US Consulate - Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) and Lagos Business School, we also have a team of professionals equipped to deliver on your book project. Malicha has helped many budding writers, and given voice to new authors including career professionals and influencers. Today, Malicha has a growing and remarkable portfolio in publishing in Nigeria,
and beyond.
